Shallun  son of Col-hozeh, ruler of the district of Mizpah, repaired the Fountain Gate.  He rebuilt it and roofed it. Then he installed its doors, bolts, and bars. He also made repairs to the wall of the Pool of Shelah  near the king’s garden,  as far as the stairs that descend from the city of David.


The rest of the events of Hezekiah’s reign, along with all his might and how he made the pool  and the tunnel and brought water into the city,  are written in the Historical Record of Judah’s Kings.


This same Hezekiah blocked the upper outlet of the water from the Gihon Spring  and channelled it smoothly downwards and westwards to the city of David.  Hezekiah succeeded in everything he did.


Then the king of Assyria sent the field marshal,  the chief of staff, and his royal spokesman, along with a massive army, from Lachish to King Hezekiah at Jerusalem.  They advanced and came to Jerusalem, and  they took their position by the aqueduct of the upper pool, by the road to the Launderer’s Field.


At the Fountain Gate  they climbed the steps of the city of David  on the ascent of the wall and went above the house of David to the Water Gate  on the east.


I constructed reservoirs for myself from which to irrigate a grove of flourishing trees.


After him Nehemiah son of Azbuk, ruler of half the district of Beth-zur,  made repairs up to a point opposite the tombs of David,  as far as the artificial pool  and the House of the Warriors.
