For the Lord will restore the majesty of Jacob, yes,  the majesty of Israel, though ravagers have ravaged them and ruined their vine branches.

On that day you  will not be put to shame because of everything you have done in rebelling  against me. For then I will remove from among you your jubilant,  arrogant people, and you will never again be haughty on my holy mountain.


They will not defile themselves any more with their idols,  their abhorrent things, and all their transgressions.  I will save them from all their apostasies by which  they sinned,  and I will cleanse them. Then they will be my people, and I will be their God.


Instead of your being deserted and hated, with no one passing through, I will make you an object of eternal pride, a joy from age to age.


Israel is a lush   vine; it yields fruit for itself. The more his fruit increased, the more he increased the altars. The better his land produced, the better they made the sacred pillars.


If grape harvesters came to you, wouldn’t they leave a few grapes? Were thieves to come in the night, they would destroy only what they wanted.


For I am already bringing disaster  on the city that bears my name,  so how could you possibly go unpunished? You will not go unpunished, for I am summoning a sword against all the inhabitants of the earth. This is the declaration of the Lord of Armies.”


Moab has been left quiet since his youth, settled like wine on its dregs. He hasn’t been poured from one container to another or gone into exile. So his taste has remained the same, and his aroma hasn’t changed.


tell them, “This is what the Lord God says: I am going to take the Israelites out of the nations where they have gone.  I will gather them from all around and bring them into their own land.


Desolation, decimation, devastation! Hearts melt, knees tremble, insides churn, every face grows pale!


Draw water for the siege; strengthen your fortresses. Step into the clay and tread the mortar; take hold of the brick-mould!
