When Jesus heard this, he told them, ‘It is not those who are well who need   a doctor,   but those who are ill.   I didn’t come to call the righteous,   but sinners.’


For the Son of Man has come to seek and to save the lost.’


For I desire faithful love and not sacrifice, the knowledge of God  rather than burnt offerings.


I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.’


If you had known what this means, I desire mercy and not sacrifice,   , you would not have condemned the innocent.


Doing what is righteous and just is more acceptable to the  Lord than sacrifice.


The Lord does not delay his promise,  as some understand delay, but is patient with you, not wanting any  to perish  but all to come to repentance.


Therefore repent  and turn back, so that your sins may be wiped out,


When they heard this they became silent. And they glorified God, saying, ‘So then, God has given repentance resulting in life even to the Gentiles.’


and saying, ‘Repent, because the kingdom of heaven has come near! ’


God exalted this man to his right hand as ruler and Saviour, to give repentance to Israel and forgiveness of sins.


and repentance for   forgiveness of sins   will be proclaimed in his name to all the nations,   beginning at Jerusalem.


From then on Jesus began to preach, ‘Repent, because the kingdom of heaven   has come near.’


Peter replied, ‘Repent  and be baptised,  each of you, in the name  of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.


Therefore produce fruit  consistent with  repentance.


I testified to both Jews and Greeks about repentance towards God  and faith in our Lord Jesus.


Jesus said to them, ‘Have you never read in the Scriptures: The stone that the builders rejected has become the cornerstone. This is what the Lord has done and it is wonderful in our eyes?   ,


He said to them, ‘Haven’t you read what David did when he and those who were with him were hungry:


And as for the dead being raised #– #haven’t you read in the book of Moses, in the passage about the burning bush, how God said to him: I   am the God of Abraham   and the God of Isaac   and the God of Jacob?


Jesus answered them, ‘Isn’t it written in your law,   I said, you are gods?   ,


‘Haven’t you read,’ he replied, ‘that he who created   them in the beginning made them male and female,   ,


Or haven’t you read in the law that on Sabbath days the priests in the temple violate the Sabbath and are innocent?


‘What is written in the law? ’ he asked him. ‘How do you read it? ’


And to love  him with all your heart, with all your understanding,  and with all your strength, and to love your neighbour as yourself, is far more important than all the burnt offerings and sacrifices.’


Jesus replied to them, ‘It is not those who are healthy who need a doctor, but those who are ill.
