The chief priests and the scribes  heard it and started looking for a way to kill him. For they were afraid  of him, because the whole crowd was astonished by his teaching.

When Jesus had finished saying these things,  the crowds were astonished at his teaching,


They were looking for a way to arrest him but feared the crowd because they knew he had spoken this parable against them. So they left him and went away.


Now as he spoke about righteousness, self-control, and the judgement to come,  Felix became afraid and replied, ‘Leave for now, but when I have an opportunity I’ll call for you.’


The servants answered, ‘No man ever spoke like this! ’  ,


Then the scribes and the chief priests  looked for a way to get their hands on him  that very hour, because they knew he had told this parable against them, but they feared the people.


Every day he was teaching  in the temple. The chief priests, the scribes, and the leaders of the people were looking for a way to kill  him,


They were all speaking well of him  and were amazed by the gracious words that came from his mouth; yet they said, ‘Isn’t this Joseph’s son? ’


But if we say, “Of human origin” ’ #– #they were afraid of the crowd, because everyone thought that John was truly a prophet.


because Herod feared  John and protected him, knowing he was a righteous  and holy  man. When Herod heard him he would be very perplexed,  , and yet he liked to listen to him.


Immediately the Pharisees  went out and started plotting  with the Herodians  against him, how they might kill  him.


They were astonished  at his teaching  because he was teaching them as one who had authority, and not like the scribes.


When the chief priests and the scribes saw the wonders that he did and the children shouting in the temple, ‘Hosanna to the Son of David! ’ they were indignant


This is what the  Lord, the Redeemer  of Israel, his Holy One, says to one who is despised, to one abhorred by people,  , to a servant of rulers: ‘Kings will see, princes will stand up, and they  will all bow down because of the Lord, who is faithful, the Holy One of Israel   #– #and he has chosen you.’


So the king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, ‘Didn’t I tell you he never prophesies good about me, but only disaster? ’


The king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, ‘There is still one man who can enquire of the Lord, but I hate him  because he never prophesies good about me,  but only disaster. He is Micaiah son of Imlah.’ ‘The king shouldn’t say that! ’ Jehoshaphat replied.


Ahab said to Elijah, ‘So, my enemy, you’ve found me, have you? ’ He replied, ‘I have found you because you devoted  yourself to do what is evil in the Lord’s sight.


And all those who heard him were astounded at his understanding and his answers.


After this, Jesus travelled in Galilee,  since he did not want to travel in Judea  because the Jews  were trying to kill him.


Didn’t Moses   give you the law? Yet none of you keeps the law.   Why are you trying to kill me? ’
