Seeing a lone fig tree by the road, he went up to it and found nothing on it except leaves. And he said to it, ‘May no fruit ever come from you again! ’ At once the fig tree withered.


If anyone does not remain in me, he is thrown aside   like a branch and he withers. They gather them, throw them into the fire,   and they are burned.


Every tree that doesn’t produce good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire.


The axe is already at the root of the trees. Therefore, every tree that doesn’t produce good fruit will be cut down and thrown into the fire.


Let the unrighteous go on in unrighteousness; let the filthy still be filthy; let the righteous go on in righteousness; let the holy still be holy.’


Whoever falls on this stone will be broken to pieces;   but on whomever it falls, it will shatter him.’


For if, having escaped the world’s impurity through the knowledge of the Lord  and Saviour Jesus Christ,  they are again entangled in these things and defeated, the last state is worse for them than the first.


‘Listen   to another parable:   There was a landowner, who planted a vineyard, put a fence round it, dug a winepress in it, and built a watchtower.   He leased it to tenant farmers and went away.


Seeing in the distance a fig  tree with leaves, he went to find out if there was anything on it. When he came to it, he found nothing but leaves; for it was not the season for figs.


They came to Jerusalem,  and he went into the temple  and began to throw out those buying and selling. He overturned the tables of the money-changers  and the chairs of those selling doves,
