I tell you, in the same way, there is joy in the presence of God’s angels   over one sinner who repents.’


I tell you, in the same way, there will be more joy in heaven   over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous people who don’t need repentance.


Therefore repent  and turn back, so that your sins may be wiped out,


and repentance for   forgiveness of sins   will be proclaimed in his name to all the nations,   beginning at Jerusalem.

There was one named Barabbas, who was in prison with rebels who had committed murder  during the rebellion.


Go and learn what this means: I desire mercy and not sacrifice.   , For I didn’t come to call the righteous, but sinners.’


When Jesus heard this, he told them, ‘It is not those who are well who need   a doctor,   but those who are ill.   I didn’t come to call the righteous,   but sinners.’


Jesus replied to them, ‘It is not those who are healthy who need a doctor, but those who are ill.


Then they said to him, ‘John’s disciples fast often and say prayers, and those of the Pharisees do the same, but yours eat and drink.’
