He spoke these words by the treasury,  while teaching in the temple. But no one seized him, because his hour had not yet come.


The chief priests took the silver and said, ‘It’s not permitted  to put it into the temple treasury, since it is blood money.’


He took everything to Babylon #– #all the articles of God’s temple, large and small, the treasures of the Lord’s temple, and the treasures of the king and his officials.


I appointed as treasurers over the storehouses the priest Shelemiah, the scribe Zadok, and Pedaiah of the Levites, with Hanan son of Zaccur, son of Mattaniah to assist them, because they were considered trustworthy.  They were responsible for the distribution to their colleagues.


He also carried off from there all the treasures of the Lord’s temple and the treasures of the king’s palace, and he cut into pieces all the gold articles that King Solomon of Israel had made  for the Lord’s sanctuary, just as the Lord had predicted.


For all the silver and gold, and the articles of bronze and iron, are dedicated to the Lord and must go into the Lord’s treasury.’


He seized the treasuries of the Lord’s temple and the treasuries of the royal palace. He took everything. He took all the gold shields that Solomon had made.


They burned the city and everything in it, but they put the silver and gold and the articles of bronze and iron into the treasury of the Lord’s house.


Then the priest Jehoiada took a chest,  bored a hole in its lid, and set it beside the altar on the right side as one enters the Lord’s temple; the priests who guarded the threshold put into the chest all the silver that was brought to the Lord’s temple.


They devour widows’ houses and say long prayers just for show. These will receive harsher judgement.’
