The one who loves a father or mother more than me is not worthy of me;   the one who loves a son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me.


The one who loves his life will lose it,   and the one who hates   his life   in this world will keep it for eternal life.


More than that, I also consider everything to be a loss in view of the surpassing value  of knowing Christ  Jesus my Lord. Because of him I have suffered the loss of all things and consider them as dung, so that I may gain Christ


But I consider my life of no value to myself; my purpose is to finish my course  and the ministry  I received from the Lord Jesus,  to testify to the gospel of God’s grace.


They conquered him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony; for they did not love their lives to the point of death.


He said about his father and mother, ‘I do not regard them.’ He disregarded his brothers and didn’t acknowledge his sons, for they kept your word and maintained your covenant.


As it is written: I have loved Jacob, but I have hated Esau.   ,

Now  great crowds were travelling with him. So he turned and said to them,


But he replied to him, ‘I don’t want to go. Instead, I will go to my own land and my relatives.’


‘And another said, “I just got married,   and therefore I’m unable to come.”
