Then Moses said to Aaron, ‘Approach the altar and sacrifice your sin offering and your burnt offering; make atonement for yourself and the people.  , Sacrifice the people’s offering and make atonement for them, as the Lord commanded.’

Because of this, he must make an offering for his own sins as well as for the people.


For every high priest taken from among men is appointed in matters pertaining to God for the people, to offer both gifts and sacrifices for sins.


But the high priest alone enters the second room, and he does that only once a year, and never without blood, which he offers for himself and for the sins the people had committed in ignorance.


‘If the anointed priest  sins, bringing guilt  on the people, he is to present to the Lord a young, unblemished  bull as a sin  offering  for the sin he has committed.


Therefore, I have sworn to Eli’s family: The iniquity of Eli’s family will never be wiped out by either sacrifice or offering.’


He said to Aaron, ‘Take a young bull for a sin  offering and a ram for a burnt offering, both without blemish,  and present them before the Lord.


The Lord commanded what has been done today in order to make atonement for you.


‘Aaron will present the bull for his sin offering and make atonement for himself and his household.


‘When Aaron presents the bull for his sin offering and makes atonement for himself and his household, he will slaughter the bull for his sin offering.


He will bathe his body with water in a holy place  and put on his clothes.  Then he must go out and sacrifice his burnt offering and the people’s burnt offering; he will make atonement for himself and for the people.
