He must not go near any dead person or make himself unclean even for his father or mother.

‘This is the law when a person dies in a tent: everyone who enters the tent and everyone who is already in the tent will be unclean for seven days,


He is not to defile himself for his father or mother, or his brother or sister, when they die, while the mark of consecration to his God is on his head.


You are not to make gashes on your bodies for the dead  or put tattoo marks on yourselves; I am the Lord.


From now on, then, we do not know anyone from a worldly perspective.  Even if we have known Christ from a worldly perspective,  yet now we no longer know him in this way.


‘If anyone comes to me   and does not hate   his own father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters #– #yes, and even his own life #– #he cannot be my disciple.


He said about his father and mother, ‘I do not regard them.’ He disregarded his brothers and didn’t acknowledge his sons, for they kept your word and maintained your covenant.


‘The person who touches any human corpse will be unclean for seven days.
