But if your eye is bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. So if the light within you is darkness, how deep is that darkness!


Her leaders issue rulings for a bribe, her priests teach for payment, and her prophets practise divination for silver. Yet they lean on the  Lord, saying, ‘Isn’t the Lord   among us? No disaster will overtake us.’


The head is the elder, the honoured one; the tail is the prophet, the one teaching lies.


Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who substitute darkness for light and light for darkness, who substitute bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter.


Why do you want more beatings? Why do you keep on rebelling? The whole head is hurt, and the whole heart is sick.

When I heard this report, I tore my tunic and robe, pulled out some of the hair from my head and beard, and sat down devastated.


‘Now you, son of man, take a sharp sword,  use it as you would a barber’s razor, and shave your head and beard. Then take a set of scales and divide the hair.
