After Ehud, Shamgar son of Anath became judge. He also delivered Israel, striking down six hundred Philistines with a cattle prod.

In the days of Shamgar  son of Anath, in the days of Jael, the main roads were deserted because travellers kept to the side roads.


For Christ did not send me to baptise, but to preach the gospel #– #not with eloquent wisdom, so that the cross  of Christ will not be emptied of its effect.

The Israelites again did what was evil in the sight of the Lord after Ehud had died.


Moab became subject to Israel that day, and the land had peace for eighty years.


But they forgot the Lord their God, so he handed them over to Sisera  commander of the army of Hazor, to the Philistines, and to the king of Moab.  These enemies fought against them.


The Lord said to the Israelites, ‘When the Egyptians,  Amorites, Ammonites, Philistines,
