When the Gazites heard that Samson was there, they surrounded the place and waited in ambush for him all that night at the city gate. They kept quiet all night, saying, ‘Let’s wait until dawn; then we will kill him.’

Saul went along one side of the mountain and David and his men went along the other side. Even though David was hurrying to get away from Saul, Saul and his men were closing in on David and his men to capture them.


but Saul learned of their plot. So they were watching the gates day and night intending to kill him,


So now you, along with the Sanhedrin, make a request to the commander that he bring him down to you  as if you were going to investigate his case more thoroughly. But, before he gets near, we are ready to kill him.’


When daybreak came, all the chief priests and the elders of the people plotted against Jesus to put him to death.


‘But when the tenant farmers saw the son, they said to each other, “This is the heir. Come, let’s kill him and take his inheritance.”


Saul sent agents to David’s house to watch for him and kill him in the morning.  But his wife Michal  warned David, ‘If you don’t escape tonight, you will be dead tomorrow! ’


He became very thirsty and called out to the Lord, ‘You have accomplished this great victory through your servant. Must I now die of thirst and fall into the hands of the uncircumcised? ’


‘When you see Jerusalem surrounded by armies,   then recognise that its desolation   has come near.


But Samson stayed in bed only until midnight. Then he got up, took hold of the doors of the city gate along with the two gateposts, and pulled them out, bar and all. He put them on his shoulders and took them to the top of the mountain overlooking Hebron.
