At that time Ephraim failed to drive out the Canaanites who were living in Gezer, so the Canaanites have lived among them in Gezer.

However, they did not drive out the Canaanites who lived in Gezer.  So the Canaanites still live in Ephraim today,  but they are forced labourers.


Pharaoh king of Egypt had attacked and captured Gezer. He then burned it, killed the Canaanites who lived in the city, and gave it as a dowry to his daughter, Solomon’s wife.


At that time King Horam of Gezer went to help Lachish,  but Joshua struck him down along with his people, leaving no survivors.


When Israel became stronger, they made the Canaanites serve as forced labour but never drove them out completely.


Zebulun failed to drive out the residents of Kitron or the residents of Nahalol,  so the Canaanites lived among them and served as forced labour.


This is the account of the forced labour  that King Solomon had imposed to build the Lord’s temple, his own palace, the supporting terraces,  the wall of Jerusalem,  and Hazor,  Megiddo,  and Gezer.
