Whoever blasphemes the name of the Lord must be put to death;  the whole community is to stone him. If he blasphemes the Name, he is to be put to death, whether the resident foreigner or the native.


This is why the Jews began trying all the more to kill him:  Not only was he breaking the Sabbath, but he was even calling God his own Father, making himself equal to God.


and was appointed to be the powerful  Son of God  according to the Spirit of holiness  by the resurrection of the dead.


When the centurion, who was standing opposite him, saw the way he  breathed his last, he said, ‘Truly this man was the Son of God! ’  ,

When Pilate heard this statement, he was more afraid than ever.


‘This man,’ they said, ‘is persuading people to worship God in ways contrary to the law.’
