Standing by the cross of Jesus were his mother, his mother’s sister, Mary the wife of Clopas, and Mary Magdalene.
But all who knew him, including the women who had followed him from Galilee, stood at a distance, watching these things.
On the first day of the week Mary Magdalene came to the tomb early, while it was still dark. She saw that the stone had been removed from the tomb.
The one named Cleopas answered him, ‘Are you the only visitor in Jerusalem who doesn’t know the things that happened there in these days? ’
and also some women who had been healed of evil spirits and sicknesses: Mary, called Magdalene (seven demons had come out of her);
and a sword will pierce your own soul #– #that the thoughts of many hearts may be revealed.’
Early on the first day of the week, after he had risen, he appeared first to Mary Magdalene, out of whom he had driven seven demons.
While he was still speaking with the crowds, his mother and brothers were standing outside wanting to speak to him.
