Many who sleep in the dust of the earth will awake, some to eternal life, and some to disgrace and eternal contempt.


Jesus, however, was speaking about his death, but they thought he was speaking about natural sleep.


who died for us,  so that whether we are awake or asleep,  we may live together with him.


Listen, I am telling you a mystery: We shall not all fall asleep, but we shall all be changed,

Come to your senses  , and stop sinning; for some people are ignorant about God. I say this to your shame.


Those, then, who have fallen asleep in Christ  have also perished.

But if anyone walks during the night,   he does stumble, because the light is not in him.’


Then the disciples said to him, ‘Lord, if he has fallen asleep, he will get well.’
