Is it good for you to oppress, to reject the work of your hands, and favour  the plans of the wicked?


This word is by decree of the watchers, and the decision is by command from the holy ones. This is so that the living will know that the Most High is ruler over human kingdoms. He gives them to anyone he wants and sets the lowliest of people over them.


The ground is cracked since no rain has fallen on the land. The farmers are ashamed; they cover their heads.


Then Elihu son of Barachel the Buzite  from the family of Ram became angry. He was angry at Job because he had justified  himself rather than God.


If this is not true, then who can prove me a liar and show that my speech is worthless?


God hands me over to the unjust; he throws me to the wicked.


He leads counsellors away barefoot and makes judges go mad.

David was climbing the slope of the Mount of Olives,  weeping as he ascended. His head was covered,  and he was walking barefoot.  All of the people with him covered their heads and went up, weeping as they ascended.


I cry out, ‘Violence! ’ but get no response; I call for help, but there is no justice.


while the land belonged to a powerful man and an influential man lived on it.


From the city, men   groan; the mortally wounded cry for help, yet God pays no attention to this crime.


You have wearied the Lord   with your words. Yet you ask, ‘How have we wearied him? ’ When you say, ‘Everyone who does what is evil is good in the Lord’s sight, and he is delighted with them,  or else where is the God of justice? ’


Again, I observed all the acts of oppression being done under the sun.  Look at the tears of those who are oppressed; they have no one to comfort them. Power is with those who oppress them; they have no one to comfort them.
