Why is life given to a man whose path is hidden, whom God has hedged in?
He has blocked my way so that I cannot pass through; he has veiled my paths with darkness.
He has walled me in so I cannot get out; he has weighed me down with chains.
Jacob, why do you say, and Israel, why do you assert, ‘My way is hidden from the Lord, and my claim is ignored by my God’?
Therefore, this is what I will do: I will block her way with thorns; I will enclose her with a wall, so that she cannot find her paths.
He has walled in my ways with blocks of stone; he has made my paths crooked.
His troops advance together; they construct a ramp against me and camp round my tent.
Whatever he tears down cannot be rebuilt; whoever he imprisons cannot be released.
then understand that it is God who has wronged me and caught me in his net.
who are filled with much joy and are glad when they reach the grave?
You put my feet in the stocks and stand watch over all my paths, setting a limit for the soles of my feet.
