Gedaliah son of Ahikam, son of Shaphan, swore an oath to them and their men, assuring them, ‘Don’t be afraid to serve the Chaldeans. Live in the land and serve the king of Babylon, and it will go well for you.

Gedaliah swore an oath to them and their men, assuring them, ‘Don’t be afraid of the servants of the Chaldeans. Live in the land and serve the king of Babylon, and it will go well for you.’


He saw that his resting place was good and that the land was pleasant, so he leaned his shoulder to bear a load and became a forced labourer.


How  she sits alone, the city  once crowded with people! She who was great among the nations has become like a widow. The princess among the provinces has been put to forced labour.


We secure our food at the risk of our lives because of the sword in the wilderness.
