Then I heard a voice from heaven saying, ‘Write: Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord from now on.’ ‘Yes,’ says the Spirit, ‘so they will rest from their labours, since their works follow them.’


For we know that if our earthly tent we live in  is destroyed, we have a building from God, an eternal dwelling in the heavens,  not made with hands.


Now, Master, you can dismiss your servant in peace, as you promised.


There the wicked  cease to make trouble, and there the weary find rest.


In fact, we are confident, and we would prefer to be away from the body and at home with the Lord.

One day the poor man died and was carried away by the angels to Abraham’s side.   , The rich man also died and was buried.


Among the slain they prepare a bed for Elam with all her hordes. Her graves are all around her. All of them are uncircumcised, slain by the sword, although their terror was once spread in the land of the living. They bear their disgrace with those who descend to the Pit. They are placed among the slain.


I am torn between the two. I long to depart and be with Christ   #– #which is far better   #– #


Both were righteous in God’s sight,  living blamelessly  according to all the commands and requirements of the Lord.


The path of the righteous is level; you clear a straight path for the righteous.


All the kings of the nations lie in splendour, each in his own tomb.


When Abram was ninety-nine years old, the Lord appeared to him, saying, ‘I am God Almighty.  Live  in my presence and be blameless.


But as for you, go on your way to the end;  you will rest, and then you will rise  to receive  your allotted inheritance at the end of the days.’


This is what the Lord says: Stand by the roadways and look. Ask about the ancient paths, ‘Which is the way to what is good? ’ Then take it and find rest for yourselves. But they protested, ‘We won’t! ’
