Woe to those who rise early in the morning in pursuit of beer, who linger into the evening, inflamed by wine.


Woe to him who gives his neighbours drink, pouring out your wrath and even making them drunk, in order to look at their nakedness!


Even these stagger because of wine and stumble under the influence of beer: Priest and prophet stagger because of beer. They are confused by wine. They stumble because of beer. They are muddled in their visions. They stumble in their judgements.


‘Come, let me get some wine, let’s guzzle some beer; and tomorrow will be like today, only far better! ’


You must not take a bribe,  for a bribe blinds the clear-sighted and corrupts the words  of the righteous.


Wine is a mocker,  beer is a brawler; whoever goes astray  because of them is not wise.


Who has woe? Who has sorrow? Who has conflicts? Who has complaints? Who has wounds for no reason? Who has red eyes?


It is not for kings, Lemuel, it is not for kings  to drink wine or for rulers to desire beer.


But look: joy and gladness, butchering of cattle, slaughtering of sheep and goats, eating of meat, and drinking of wine – ‘Let’s eat and drink, for tomorrow we die! ’


They no longer sing and drink wine; beer is bitter to those who drink it.


They marched out at noon while Ben-hadad and the thirty-two kings  who were helping him were getting drunk in their quarters.


Otherwise, he will drink, forget what is decreed, and pervert justice for all the oppressed.  ,
