It will never go out #– #day or night. Its smoke will go up for ever. It will be desolate, from generation to generation; no one will pass through it for ever and ever.
‘As they leave, they will see the dead bodies of those who have rebelled against me; for their worm will never die, their fire will never go out, and they will be a horror to all humanity.’
It will never be inhabited or lived in from generation to generation; a nomad will not pitch his tent there, and shepherds will not let their flocks rest there.
Therefore, this is what the Lord God says: ‘Look, my anger #– #my burning wrath #– #is about to be poured out on this place, on people and animals, on the tree of the field, and on the produce of the land. My wrath will burn and not be quenched.’
He has cast the lot for them; his hand allotted their portion with a measuring line. They will possess it for ever; they will dwell in it from generation to generation.
As when Sodom and Gomorrah were overthrown along with their neighbours,’ says the Lord, ‘no one will live there; no human being will stay in it even temporarily.
