I call a bird of prey  from the east, a man for my purpose from a far country. Yes, I have spoken; so I will also bring it about. I have planned it; I will also do it.


But each person will sit under his grapevine and under his fig tree with no one to frighten him. For the mouth of the Lord   of Armies has spoken.


I will drive him, like a peg, into a firm place. He will be a throne of honour for his father’s family.


I will send famine and dangerous animals against you. They will leave you childless. Plague and bloodshed will sweep through you, and I will bring a sword against you. I, the Lord, have spoken.’


So you  will be a disgrace and a taunt, a warning and a horror, to the nations around you when I execute judgements against you in anger,  wrath, and furious rebukes. I, the Lord, have spoken.


When my anger is spent and I have vented my wrath on them, I will be appeased.  Then after I have spent my wrath on them, they will know that I, the Lord, have spoken in my jealousy.


Because of this, the earth will mourn; the skies above will grow dark. I have spoken; I have planned, and I will not relent or turn back from it.’


I #– #I have spoken; yes, I have called him; I have brought him, and he will succeed in his mission.


They will hang on him all the glory of his father’s family: the descendants and the offshoots #– #all the small vessels, from bowls to every kind of jar.
