For judgement is without mercy to the one who has not shown mercy.  Mercy triumphs over judgement.


Look, I am against you, you arrogant one – this is the declaration of the Lord God of Armies – for your day has come, the time when I will punish you.

Woe, you destroyer never destroyed, you traitor never betrayed! When you have finished destroying, you will be destroyed. When you have finished betraying, they will betray you.


My hand has reached out, as if into a nest, to seize the wealth of the nations. Like one gathering abandoned eggs, I gathered the whole earth. No wing fluttered; no beak opened or chirped.


No wisdom, no understanding, and no counsel will prevail against the  Lord.


God does not hold back his anger; Rahab’s  assistants cringe in fear beneath him!


So he brought up against them the king of the Chaldeans,  who killed their fit young men with the sword in the house of their sanctuary. He had no pity on young men or young women, elderly or aged; he handed them all over to him.


The Lord has broken the staff of the wicked, the sceptre of the rulers.


People have heard me groaning, but there is no one to comfort me. All my enemies have heard of my misfortune; they are glad that you have caused it. Bring on the day you have announced, so that they may become like me.


Will they therefore empty their net and continually slaughter nations without mercy?


A wicked ruler over a helpless people is like a roaring lion or a charging bear.


Mourn for him, all you surrounding nations, everyone who knows his name. Say, ‘How the mighty sceptre  is shattered, the glorious staff! ’


Moreover, wine   betrays; an arrogant man is never at rest. He enlarges his appetite like Sheol, and like Death he is never satisfied. He gathers all the nations to himself; he collects all the peoples for himself.
