For every high priest taken from among men is appointed in matters pertaining to God for the people, to offer both gifts and sacrifices for sins.

For every high priest is appointed to offer gifts  and sacrifices; therefore, it was necessary for this priest also to have something to offer.


Every priest stands day after day ministering and offering the same sacrifices time after time, which can never take away sins.


By faith Abel offered to God a better sacrifice than Cain did. By faith he was approved as a righteous man, because God approved his gifts, and even though he is dead, he still speaks through his faith.


This is a symbol for the present time, during which gifts and sacrifices are offered that cannot perfect the worshipper’s conscience.


He doesn’t need to offer sacrifices every day, as high priests do #– #first for their own sins, then for those of the people. He did this once for all time when he offered himself.


Therefore, he had to be like his brothers and sisters in every way, so that he could become a merciful and faithful high priest in matters  pertaining to God, to make atonement  , for the sins of the people.


Then Moses said to Aaron, ‘Approach the altar and sacrifice your sin offering and your burnt offering; make atonement for yourself and the people.  , Sacrifice the people’s offering and make atonement for them, as the Lord commanded.’


‘Take Aaron, his sons with him, the garments, the anointing oil,  the bull of the sin  offering, the two rams, and the basket  of unleavened bread,


Therefore I have reason to boast in Christ Jesus  regarding what pertains to God.


For I passed on to you  as most important what I also received: that Christ died  for our sins according to the Scriptures,


Now if he were on earth, he wouldn’t be a priest, since there are those  offering the gifts prescribed by the law.


But this man, after offering one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down at the right hand of God.  ,
