When Joseph’s brothers saw that their father was dead, they said to one another, ‘If Joseph is holding a grudge against us, he will certainly repay us for all the suffering we caused him.’

The wicked flee when no one is pursuing them, but the righteous are as bold as a lion.


‘I will put anxiety in the hearts of those of you who survive in the lands of their enemies. The sound of a wind-driven leaf will put them to flight, and they will flee as one flees from a sword, and fall though no one is pursuing them.


They show that the work of the law  is written on their hearts.  Their consciences confirm this. Their competing thoughts either accuse or even excuse them


So Joseph imprisoned them together for three days.


When Midianite  traders passed by, his brothers pulled Joseph out of the pit and sold him for twenty pieces of silver to the Ishmaelites, who took Joseph to Egypt.


After Joseph buried his father, he returned to Egypt with his brothers and all who had gone with him to bury his father.


So they sent this message to Joseph, ‘Before he died your father gave a command:


They saw him in the distance, and before he had reached them, they plotted to kill him.
