God said, ‘I am God, the God of your father. Do not be afraid to go down to Egypt, for I will make you into a great nation there.

You are to respond by saying in the presence of the Lord your God: My father was a wandering Aramean.  He went down to Egypt with a few people and resided there as a foreigner.  There he became a great, powerful, and populous nation.


I will make you into a great nation, I will bless you, I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing.


and said, “Don’t be afraid, Paul. It is necessary for you to appear before Caesar. And indeed, God has graciously given you all those who are sailing with you.”


Do not fear, for I am with you; do not be afraid, for I am your God. I will strengthen you; I will help you; I will hold on to you with my righteous right hand.


God also said to him, ‘I am God Almighty.  Be fruitful and multiply.  A nation, indeed an assembly of nations, will come from you,  and kings will descend from you.  ,


‘As the time was approaching to fulfil the promise that God had made to Abraham, the people flourished and multiplied in Egypt


Your ancestors went down to Egypt, seventy people in all,  and now the Lord your God has made you numerous, like the stars of the sky.


The Lord your God has so multiplied you that today you are as numerous as the stars of the sky.


Israel settled in the land of Egypt, in the region of Goshen. They acquired property in it and became fruitful and very numerous.


I will indeed bless you  and make your offspring as numerous as the stars of the sky  and the sand on the seashore.  Your offspring will possess the city gates of their  enemies.


Abraham is to become a great and powerful nation, and all the nations of the earth will be blessed through him.


Then the Lord said to Abram,  ‘Know this for certain: your offspring will be resident foreigners  for four hundred years  in a land that does not belong to them and will be enslaved and oppressed.


After these events, the word of the Lord came  to Abram in a vision: Do not be afraid,  Abram. I am your shield; your reward will be very great.


Gedaliah son of Ahikam, son of Shaphan, swore an oath to them and their men, assuring them, ‘Don’t be afraid to serve the Chaldeans. Live in the land and serve the king of Babylon, and it will go well for you.


When Abram was ninety-nine years old, the Lord appeared to him, saying, ‘I am God Almighty.  Live  in my presence and be blameless.


the angel who has redeemed me from all harm   – may he bless these boys. And may they be called by my name and the names of my fathers Abraham and Isaac, and may they grow to be numerous within the land.


But his father refused and said, ‘I know, my son, I know! He too will become a tribe,  and he too will be great; nevertheless, his younger brother will be greater than he, and his offspring will become a populous nation.’


But Moses said to the people, ‘Don’t be afraid. Stand firm and see  the Lord’s salvation that he will accomplish for you today; for the Egyptians you see today, you will never see again.


But the more they oppressed them, the more they multiplied and spread so that the Egyptians came to dread  the Israelites.
