I did not bring you any of the flock torn by wild beasts; I myself bore the loss. You demanded payment from me for what was stolen by day or by night.

In the same region, shepherds were staying out in the fields and keeping watch at night over their flock.


He must not eat an animal that died naturally or was mauled by wild beasts,  , making himself unclean by it; I am the Lord.


‘Be my holy people. You must not eat the meat of a mauled animal  found in the field; throw it to the dogs.
