Esau noticed that Isaac blessed Jacob and sent him to Paddan-aram to get a wife there. When he blessed him, Isaac commanded Jacob, ‘Do not marry a Canaanite girl.’


There Judah saw the daughter of a Canaanite named Shua; he took her as a wife and slept with her.


Find wives for yourselves, and have sons and daughters. Find wives for your sons and give your daughters to men in marriage so that they may bear sons and daughters. Multiply there; do not decrease.
