Swear to me by God here and now, that you will not break an agreement with me or with my children and descendants. As I have been loyal to you, so you will be loyal to me and to the country where you are a resident foreigner.’

Come now, let’s make a covenant, you and I.  Let it be a witness between the two of us.’


They replied, ‘We have clearly seen how the Lord has been with you. We think there should be an oath between two parties #– #between us and you. Let us make a covenant with you:


and I will have you swear by the Lord, God of heaven and God of earth, that you will not take a wife for my son from the daughters of the Canaanites among whom I live,


And Abraham said, ‘I swear it.’


And Jacob said, ‘Swear to me.’ So Joseph swore to him. Then Israel bowed in thanks at the head of his bed.  ,


When his master saw that the Lord was with him and that the Lord made everything he did successful,
