One of the survivors came and told Abram the Hebrew,  who lived near the oaks belonging to Mamre the Amorite, the brother of Eshcol and the brother of Aner. They were bound by a treaty with Abram.

So Abram moved his tent and went to live near the oaks of Mamre at Hebron,  where he built an altar to the Lord.


I will take nothing except what the servants have eaten. But as for the share of the men who came with me #– #Aner, Eshcol, and Mamre #– #they can take their share.’


For I was kidnapped from the land of the Hebrews,  and even here I have done nothing that they should put me in the dungeon.’  ,


Adopt the same attitude as that of Christ Jesus,


Are they Hebrews?  So am I. Are they Israelites? So am I. Are they the descendants of Abraham?  So am I.


He answered them, ‘I’m a Hebrew.  I worship  the Lord,  the God of the heavens,  who made the sea  and the dry land.’

Years later,  after Moses had grown up, he went out to his own people  and observed their forced labour.  He saw an Egyptian striking a Hebrew, one of his people.

The Lord appeared to Abraham at the oaks of Mamre  while he was sitting at the entrance of his tent during the heat of the day.


Abraham took flocks and herds and gave them to Abimelech, and the two of them made a covenant.


After they had made a covenant at Beer-sheba, Abimelech and Phicol, the commander of his army, left and returned to the land of the Philistines.


They will listen to what you say. Then you, along with the elders of Israel, must go to the king of Egypt and say to him: The Lord, the God of the Hebrews, has met with us. Now please let us go on a three-day trip into the wilderness so that we may sacrifice to the Lord our God.


When they came to Eshcol  Valley, they cut down a branch with a single cluster of grapes, which was carried on a pole by two men. They also took some pomegranates and figs.


As a result, each was to let his male and female Hebrew slaves go free, and no one was to enslave his fellow Judean.


And Abraham said, ‘I swear it.’


Then the Philistine commanders asked, ‘What are these Hebrews doing here? ’ Achish answered the Philistine commanders, ‘That is David, servant of King Saul of Israel. He has been with me a considerable period of time.  From the day he defected until today, I’ve found no fault with him.’
