The people could not distinguish the sound of the joyful shouting from that of the  weeping,  because the people were shouting so loudly. And the sound was heard far away.

When the ark of the covenant of the Lord entered the camp, all the Israelites raised such a loud shout that the ground shook.


“What are you, great mountain?  Before Zerubbabel you will become a plain.  And he will bring out the capstone accompanied by shouts of: Grace, grace to it! ” ’


a sound of joy and gladness, the voice of the groom and the bride,  and the voice of those saying, Give thanks to the Lord of Armies, for the Lord is good; his faithful love endures for ever as they bring thanksgiving sacrifices to the temple of the Lord. For I will restore the fortunes of the land as in former times, says the Lord.


On that day they offered great sacrifices and rejoiced because God had given them great joy.  The women and children also celebrated, and Jerusalem’s rejoicing was heard far away.


The priest Zadok and the prophet Nathan have anointed him king in Gihon.  They have gone up from there rejoicing. The town has been in an uproar; that’s the noise you heard.


All the people went up after him, playing flutes and rejoicing with such a great joy  that the earth split open from the sound.


So they named that place Bochim  and offered sacrifices there to the Lord.


But many of the older priests, Levites, and family heads, who had seen the first temple, wept loudly when they saw the foundation of this temple,  but many others shouted joyfully.


When the enemies of Judah and Benjamin  heard that the returned exiles  , were building a temple for the Lord, the God of Israel,


In those days and at that time – this is the  Lord’s declaration – the Israelites and Judeans will come together, weeping as they come, and will seek the  Lord their God.
