Moses said to Pharaoh, ‘You may have the honour of choosing. When should I appeal on behalf of you, your officials, and your people, that the frogs be taken away from you and your houses, and remain only in the Nile? ’

Does an axe exalt itself above the one who chops with it? Does a saw magnify itself above the one who saws with it? It would be like a rod waving the ones who lift   it! It would be like a staff lifting the one who isn’t wood!


Then Elijah said to the prophets of Baal, ‘Since you are so numerous, choose for yourselves one bull and prepare it first. Then call on the name of your god but don’t light the fire.’


The Lord said to Gideon, ‘You have too many troops for me to hand the Midianites over to them, or else Israel might elevate themselves over me and say,  “I saved myself.”

Seven days passed after the Lord struck the Nile.


the frogs will go away from you, your houses, your officials, and your people. The frogs will remain only in the Nile.’


The Lord responded, ‘I have pardoned them as you requested.
