The commander of the Lord’s army said to Joshua, ‘Remove the sandals from your feet, for the place where you are standing is holy.’  And Joshua did so.


‘The Lord said to him: Take off the sandals from your feet, because the place where you are standing is holy ground.


Put boundaries for the people all around the mountain and say: Be careful that you don’t go up on the mountain or touch its base. Anyone who touches the mountain must be put to death.


Guard your steps when you go to the house of God. Better to approach in obedience than to offer the sacrifice as fools do,  for they ignorantly do wrong.


for they could not bear what was commanded: If even an animal touches the mountain, it must be stoned.   ,


The Lord instructed Moses, ‘Go down and warn the people not to break through to see the Lord; otherwise many of them will die.


Moses said to Aaron, ‘This is what the Lord has spoken: I will demonstrate my holiness  , to those who are near me, and I will reveal my glory  , before all the people.’ And Aaron remained silent.


We ourselves heard this voice when it came from heaven while we were with him on the holy mountain.


For the Lord your God walks throughout your camp to protect you and deliver your enemies to you; so your encampments must be holy. He must not see anything indecent among you or he will turn away from you.


Jacob’s leader will be one of them; his ruler will issue from him. I will invite him to me, and he will approach me, for who would otherwise risk his life to approach me? This is the  Lord’s declaration.


Moses told Aaron everything the Lord had sent him to say, and about all the signs he had commanded him to do.
