Observe the Festival of Unleavened Bread. As I commanded you, you are to eat unleavened bread for seven days at the appointed time in the month of Abib,  because you came out of Egypt in that month. No one is to appear before me empty-handed.

Then  the Day of Unleavened Bread came when the Passover lamb had to be sacrificed.


You may redeem the firstborn of a donkey with a sheep, but if you do not redeem it, break its neck.  You must redeem all the firstborn of your sons. No one is to appear before me empty-handed.


‘All your males are to appear three times a year  before the Lord your God in the place he chooses: at the Festival of Unleavened Bread, the Festival of Weeks, and the Festival of Shelters. No one is to appear before the Lord empty-handed.


On  the first day of Unleavened Bread, when they sacrifice the Passover lamb,  his disciples  asked him, ‘Where do you want us to go and prepare the Passover so that you may eat it? ’


‘Speak to the Israelites and tell them: When you enter the land I am giving you and reap its harvest,  you are to bring the first sheaf of your harvest to the priest.


‘Observe the Festival of Unleavened Bread. You are to eat unleavened bread for seven days at the appointed time in the month of Abib,  as I commanded you, for you came out of Egypt in the month of Abib.


Today, in the month of Abib,  , you are going out.


Every year his parents travelled to Jerusalem for the Passover Festival.


When he saw that it pleased the Jews, he proceeded to arrest Peter too, during the Festival of Unleavened Bread.


‘This month is to be the beginning of months for you; it is the first month of your year.


‘You must not hold back offerings  from your harvest or your vats. Give me the firstborn of your sons.


They replied, ‘If you send the ark of Israel’s God away, do not send it without an offering.  Send back a guilt offering to him,  and you will be healed. Then the reason his hand hasn’t been removed from you will be revealed.’


Then Moses said to the people, ‘Remember this day when you came out of Egypt, out of the place of slavery, for the Lord brought you out of here by the strength of his hand. Nothing leavened may be eaten.


What should I bring before the  Lord when I come to bow before God on high? Should I come before him with burnt offerings, with year-old calves?
