Lord, who is like you among the gods? Who is like you, glorious in holiness, revered with praises, performing wonders?


The temple that I am building will be great, for our God is greater than any of the gods.


He has done a mighty deed with his arm; he has scattered the proud because of the thoughts of their hearts;


Now I, Nebuchadnezzar, praise, exalt, and glorify the King of the heavens, because all his works are true and his ways are just.  He is able to humble  those who walk in pride.


For the  Lord is great and highly praised; he is feared above all gods.


But he gives greater grace. Therefore he says: God resists the proud but gives grace to the humble.   ,


You performed signs and wonders against Pharaoh, all his officials, and all the people of his land, for you knew how arrogantly they treated our ancestors. You made a name for yourself that endures to this day.


Then Naaman and his whole company went back to the man of God, stood before him, and declared, ‘I know there’s no God in the whole world except in Israel.  Therefore, please accept a gift  from your servant.’


In the same way, you who are younger, be subject to the elders. All of you clothe yourselves with  humility towards one another, because God resists the proud but gives grace to the humble.   ,


You warned them to turn back to your law, but they acted arrogantly and would not obey your commands. They sinned against your ordinances, which a person will live by if he does them. They stubbornly resisted, stiffened their necks, and would not obey.


But our ancestors acted arrogantly; they became stiff-necked and did not listen to your commands.


Then the woman said to Elijah, ‘Now I know you are a man of God  and the Lord’s word from your mouth is true.’


Do not boast so proudly, or let arrogant words come out of your mouth, for the Lord is a God of knowledge, and actions are weighed by him.


The Egyptians will know that I am the Lord when I receive glory through Pharaoh, his chariots, and his horsemen.’


The Lord hardened the heart of Pharaoh king of Egypt, and he pursued the Israelites, who were going out defiantly.  ,


‘I will pass through  the land of Egypt on that night and strike every firstborn male in the land of Egypt, both people and animals. I am the Lord; I will execute judgements against all the gods of Egypt.


So Moses and Aaron went in to Pharaoh and told him, ‘This is what the Lord, the God of the Hebrews, says: How long will you refuse to humble yourself before me? Let my people go, that they may worship me.


‘Don’t continue to supply the people with straw for making bricks, as before. They must go and gather straw for themselves.


But Pharaoh responded, ‘Who is the Lord that I should obey him by letting Israel go?  I don’t know  the Lord, and besides, I will not let Israel go.’


Pharaoh then commanded all his people, ‘You must throw every son born to the Hebrews into the Nile, but let every daughter live.’


‘When you help the Hebrew women give birth, observe them as they deliver. If the child is a son, kill him, but if it’s a daughter, she may live.’


Come, let’s deal shrewdly with them; otherwise they will multiply further, and when war breaks out, they will join our enemies, fight against us, and leave the country.’


Meanwhile, the Egyptians were burying every firstborn male the Lord had struck down among them, for the Lord had executed judgement against their gods.
