Moses continued, ‘The Lord will give you meat to eat this evening and all the bread you want in the morning, for he has heard the complaints that you are raising against him. Who are we? Your complaints are not against us but against the Lord.’

So then, the one who resists the authority is opposing God’s command, and those who oppose it will bring judgement on themselves.


But the Lord told him, ‘Listen to the people and everything they say to you. They have not rejected you; they have rejected me as their king.


Consequently, anyone who rejects this does not reject man, but God, who gives you his Holy Spirit.


Whoever listens to you listens to me.   Whoever rejects you rejects me.   And whoever rejects me rejects the one who sent me.’


‘How long must I endure this evil community that keeps complaining about me? I have heard the Israelites’ complaints that they make against me.


The people then came to Moses and said, ‘We have sinned by speaking against the Lord and against you. Intercede with the Lord so that he will take the snakes away from us.’ And Moses interceded for the people.


And don’t grumble  as some of them did,  , and were killed by the destroyer.  ,


Truly I tell you, whoever receives anyone I send receives me, and the one who receives   me receives him who sent me.’


‘The one who welcomes you welcomes me,   and the one who welcomes me welcomes him who sent me.


Perceiving their thoughts,  Jesus said, ‘Why are you thinking evil things in your hearts?


Because your raging against me and your arrogance have reached my ears, I will put my hook in your nose and my bit in your mouth; I will make you go back the way you came.


For a fool speaks foolishness and his mind plots iniquity. He lives in a godless way and speaks falsely about the  Lord. He leaves the hungry empty and deprives the thirsty of drink.


‘I have heard the complaints of the Israelites. Tell them: At twilight you will eat meat, and in the morning you will eat bread until you are full. Then you will know that I am the Lord your God.’


Then Moses told Aaron, ‘Say to the entire Israelite community, “Come before the Lord, for he has heard your complaints.” ’


So the people complained to Moses, ‘Give us water to drink.’ ‘Why are you complaining to me? ’ Moses replied to them. ‘Why are you testing  the Lord? ’


‘Tell the people: Consecrate yourselves in readiness for tomorrow, and you will eat meat because you wept in the Lord’s hearing, “Who will feed us meat? We were better off in Egypt.” The Lord will give you meat and you will eat.
