Then  Jehoiada made a covenant between the Lord, the king, and the people that they would be the Lord’s people  and another covenant between the king and the people.  ,


On that day Joshua made a covenant for the people at Shechem and established a statute and ordinance for them.


I am making this covenant and this oath not only with you,


your dependents, your wives, and the resident foreigners in your camps who cut your wood and draw your water #– #


and so that he may establish you today as his people and he may be your God as he promised you and as he swore to your ancestors Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.

Today you have affirmed that the Lord is your God and that you will walk in his ways, keep his statutes, commands, and ordinances, and obey him.


The Lord will establish you as his holy people,  as he swore to you, if you obey the commands of the Lord your God and walk in his ways.
