Just as the Lord was glad to cause you to prosper and to multiply you, so he will also be glad to cause you to perish and to destroy you. You will be ripped out of the land you are entering to possess.

I, in turn, will laugh at your calamity. I will mock when terror strikes you,


I will take delight in them to do what is good for them, and with all my heart and mind I will faithfully plant them in this land.


The Lord your God is among you, a warrior  who saves. He will rejoice over you  with gladness. He will be quiet  in his love. He will delight in you with singing.’


When my anger is spent and I have vented my wrath on them, I will be appeased.  Then after I have spent my wrath on them, they will know that I, the Lord, have spoken in my jealousy.


Therefore the Lord God of Armies, the Mighty One of Israel, declares: ‘Ah, I will get even with my foes; I will take revenge against my enemies.


The Lord your God will make you prosper abundantly in all the work of your hands,  your offspring,  the offspring of your livestock, and the produce of your land. Indeed, the Lord will again delight in your prosperity, as he delighted in that of your ancestors,


But we had to celebrate and rejoice, because this brother of yours was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found.” ’


Who is a God like you, forgiving iniquity and passing over rebellion for the remnant of his inheritance? He does not hold on to his anger for ever because he delights in faithful love.


‘While I was considering the horns, suddenly another horn,  a little one, came up among them, and three of the first horns were uprooted before it. And suddenly in this horn there were eyes like the eyes of a human and a mouth that was speaking arrogantly.


Tell them, “As I live #– #this is the declaration of the Lord God  #– #I take no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but rather that the wicked person should turn from his way and live.  Repent, repent of your evil ways! Why will you die, house of Israel? ”


‘This is what you are to say to him: “This is what the Lord says: ‘What I have built I am about to demolish, and what I have planted I am about to uproot   #– #the whole land!


“If you will indeed stay in this land, then I will rebuild and not demolish you,  and I will plant and not uproot you, because I relent concerning the disaster that I have brought on you.


The whole valley #– #the corpses, the ashes, and all the fields as far as the Kidron Valley  to the corner of the Horse Gate  to the east #– #will be holy to the Lord. It will never be uprooted or demolished again.’


Just as I watched over them to uproot and to tear them down, to demolish and to destroy, and to cause disaster,  so will I watch over them to build and to plant them’   #– #this is the Lord’s declaration.


I will keep my eyes on them for their good  and will return them to this land. I will build them up and not demolish them; I will plant them and not uproot them.


At one moment I might announce concerning a nation or a kingdom that I will uproot, tear down, and destroy it.


For as a young man marries a young woman, so your sons will marry you; and as a groom rejoices over his bride, so your God will rejoice over you.


The Lord your God will drive out these nations before you little by little. You will not be able to destroy them all at once; otherwise, the wild animals will become too numerous for you.


Then the Lord said, ‘I will wipe mankind, whom I created, off the face of the earth, together with the animals, creatures that crawl, and birds of the sky #– #for I regret that I made them.’


but the wicked will be cut off from the land, and the treacherous ripped out of it.


The Lord will scatter you among the peoples,  and you will be reduced to a few survivors  among the nations where the Lord your God will drive you.


Then I said, ‘Until when, Lord? ’  And he replied: Until cities lie in ruins without inhabitants, houses are without people, the land is ruined and desolate,


the prophet Jeremiah and said, ‘May our petition come before you;  pray to the Lord your God on our behalf,  on behalf of this entire remnant (for few of us remain out of the many,  as you can see with your own eyes),


Zion’s gates have fallen to the ground; he has destroyed and shattered the bars on her gates. Her king and her leaders live among the nations, instruction  is no more, and even her prophets receive no vision from the  Lord.


For the Lord God says: The city that marches out a thousand strong will have only a hundred left, and the one that marches out a hundred strong will have only ten left  in the house of Israel.
