And at that time I will search Jerusalem with lamps and punish those who settle down comfortably,  , who say to themselves: ‘The Lord will do nothing #– #good or bad.’


Speak to him and say, “This is what the Lord God says: Look, I am against you, Pharaoh king of Egypt, the great monster  , lying in the middle of his Nile, who says, ‘My Nile is my own; I made it for myself.’


Your heart became proud because of your beauty; For the sake of your splendour you corrupted your wisdom. So I threw you down to the ground; I made you a spectacle before kings.


Moab has been left quiet since his youth, settled like wine on its dregs. He hasn’t been poured from one container to another or gone into exile. So his taste has remained the same, and his aroma hasn’t changed.


‘Come, let me get some wine, let’s guzzle some beer; and tomorrow will be like today, only far better! ’


Then Daniel, whose name is Belteshazzar, was stunned for a moment, and his thoughts alarmed him. The king said, ‘Belteshazzar, don’t let the dream or its interpretation alarm you.’ Belteshazzar answered, ‘My lord, may the dream apply to those who hate you, and its interpretation to your enemies!


What the king is asking is so difficult that no one can make it known to him except the gods, whose dwelling is not with mortals.’


So all the king’s wise men came in, but none could read the inscription or make its interpretation known to him.
