And so he gave Abraham the covenant of circumcision. After this, he fathered Isaac and circumcised  him on the eighth day. Isaac became the father of Jacob, and Jacob became the father of the twelve patriarchs.

‘Brothers and sisters, I can confidently speak to you about the patriarch David: He is both dead and buried, and his tomb is with us to this day.

My point is this: The law, which came 430 years later,  does not invalidate a covenant previously established by God  and thus cancel the promise.

In what way, then, was it credited #– #while he was circumcised, or uncircumcised? It was not while he was circumcised, but uncircumcised.

Abraham fathered  Isaac, Isaac fathered Jacob, Jacob fathered Judah and his brothers,


Abraham  fathered Isaac. Isaac’s sons: Esau and Israel.


With her last breath #– #for she was dying #– #she named him Ben-oni,  but his father called him Benjamin.


When the Lord saw that Leah was neglected,  he opened her womb;  but Rachel was unable to conceive.


Bilhah conceived and bore Jacob a son.
