The Lord said to Abram: Go from your land, your relatives, and your father’s house to the land that I will show you.


By faith Abraham, when he was called, obeyed and set out for a place that he was going to receive as an inheritance. He went out, even though he did not know where he was going.


But I took your father Abraham from the region beyond the River Euphrates, led him throughout the land of Canaan, and multiplied his descendants.  I gave him Isaac,


He also said to him, ‘I am the Lord who brought you from Ur of the Chaldeans to give you this land to possess.’


Therefore, come out from among them and be separate, says the Lord; do not touch any unclean thing, and I will welcome you.   ,


In the same way, therefore, every one of you who does not renounce   all his possessions   cannot be my disciple.


The one who loves a father or mother more than me is not worthy of me;   the one who loves a son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me.


You found his heart faithful in your sight, and made a covenant with him to give the land of the Canaanites, Hethites, Amorites, Perizzites, Jebusites, and Girgashites – to give it to his descendants. You have fulfilled your promise, for you are righteous.


‘Then he left the land of the Chaldeans and settled in Haran. From there, after his father died, God had him move to this land in which you are now living.


So when God made me wander from my father’s house,  I said to her: Show your loyalty to me wherever we go and say about me, “He’s my brother.” ’
