‘Ananias,’ Peter asked, ‘why has Satan filled your heart  to lie to the Holy Spirit and keep back part of the proceeds of the land?


Moreover, because of my delight in the house of my God, I now give my personal treasures of gold and silver for the house of my God over and above all that I’ve provided for the holy house:


Consequently, anyone who rejects this does not reject man, but God, who gives you his Holy Spirit.

the gold for the gold work and the silver for the silver, for all the work to be done by the craftsmen. Now who will volunteer to consecrate himself to the Lord today? ’


But the Lord told him, ‘Listen to the people and everything they say to you. They have not rejected you; they have rejected me as their king.


So the Israelites brought a freewill offering to the Lord, all the men and women whose hearts prompted them to bring something for all the work that the Lord, through Moses, had commanded to be done.


Moses continued, ‘The Lord will give you meat to eat this evening and all the bread you want in the morning, for he has heard the complaints that you are raising against him. Who are we? Your complaints are not against us but against the Lord.’


Then after desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin, and when sin is fully grown, it gives birth to death.


But I didn’t want to do anything without your consent, so that your good deed might not be out of obligation, but of your own free will.


Food will not bring us close to God.  We are not worse off if we don’t eat, and we are not better if we do eat.


They conceive trouble  and give birth to evil; their womb  prepares deception.


Therefore, it is you and all your followers who have conspired against the Lord!  As for Aaron, who is he  that you should complain about him? ’


Better that you do not vow than that you vow and not fulfil it.
