A man who was lame from birth was being carried there. He was placed each day at the temple gate called Beautiful, so that he could beg from those entering the temple.

In Lystra a man was sitting who was without strength in his feet, had never walked, and had been lame from birth.


His neighbours and those who had seen him before as a beggar said, ‘Isn’t this the one who used to sit begging? ’


But a poor man named Lazarus, covered with sores, was lying at his gate.


and said, “Cornelius, your prayer has been heard, and your acts of charity have been remembered in God’s sight.


As  he approached Jericho, a blind man was sitting by the road begging.


Staring at him in awe, he said, ‘What is it, Lord? ’ The angel told him, ‘Your prayers and your acts of charity have ascended as a memorial offering before God.


For this sign of healing had been performed on a man over forty years old.


and they recognised that he was the one who used to sit and beg at the Beautiful Gate of the temple. So they were filled with awe and astonishment at what had happened to him.
