When I was in Jerusalem, the chief priests and the elders of the Jews presented their case and asked that he be condemned.

Five days later Ananias  the high priest came down with some elders and a lawyer named Tertullus. These men presented their case against Paul to the governor.


But they kept up the pressure, demanding with loud voices that he be crucified, and their voices  prevailed.


If the king approves, let an order be drawn up authorising their destruction, and I will pay 345 tonnes of silver to  the officials to deposit in the royal treasury.’
