After two years had passed, Porcius Festus succeeded Felix, and because Felix wanted to do the Jews a favour, he left Paul in prison.
But Festus, wanting to do the Jews a favour, replied to Paul, ‘Are you willing to go up to Jerusalem to be tried before me there on these charges? ’
Since they were staying there several days, Festus presented Paul’s case to the king, saying, ‘There’s a man who was left as a prisoner by Felix.
When he saw that it pleased the Jews, he proceeded to arrest Peter too, during the Festival of Unleavened Bread.
Three days after Festus arrived in the province, he went up to Jerusalem from Caesarea.
Wanting to satisfy the crowd, Pilate released Barabbas to them; and after having Jesus flogged, he handed him over to be crucified.
For am I now trying to persuade people, or God? Or am I striving to please people? If I were still trying to please people, I would not be a servant of Christ.
Agrippa said to Festus, ‘This man could have been released if he had not appealed to Caesar.’
The fear of mankind is a snare, but the one who trusts in the Lord is protected. ,
Paul stayed for two whole years in his own rented house. And he welcomed all who visited him,
Festus, however, answered that Paul should be kept at Caesarea, and that he himself was about to go there shortly.
he said, ‘I will give you a hearing whenever your accusers also get here.’ He ordered that he be kept under guard in Herod’s palace. ,
‘You must not follow a crowd in wrongdoing. Do not testify in a lawsuit and go along with a crowd to pervert justice.
They pulled him up with the ropes and lifted him out of the cistern, but he remained in the guard’s courtyard.
