After these events, Paul resolved by the Spirit  to pass through Macedonia and Achaia and go to Jerusalem. ‘After I’ve been there,’ he said, ‘it is necessary for me to see Rome as well.’

‘And now I am on my way to Jerusalem, compelled by the Spirit,  not knowing what I will encounter there,


For Paul had decided to sail past Ephesus to avoid spending time in the province of Asia, because he was hurrying to be in Jerusalem, if possible, for the day of Pentecost.


The following night, the Lord stood by him and said, ‘Have courage! For as you have testified about me in Jerusalem, so it is necessary for you to testify in Rome.’


Now I don’t want you to be unaware,  brothers and sisters, that I often planned to come to you (but was prevented until now  ) in order that I might have a fruitful ministry  among you,  just as I have had among the rest of the Gentiles.


but he said farewell and added,  ‘I’ll come back to you again, if God wills.’  Then he set sail from Ephesus.


As a result, you became an example to all the believers in Macedonia  and Achaia.


Then after fourteen years I went up again  to Jerusalem with Barnabas,  taking Titus  along as well.


I will come to you after I pass through Macedonia   #– #for I will be travelling through Macedonia #– #


So I am eager to preach the gospel  to you also who are in Rome.


When we entered Rome,  Paul was allowed to live by himself with the soldier who guarded him.


and said, “Don’t be afraid, Paul. It is necessary for you to appear before Caesar. And indeed, God has graciously given you all those who are sailing with you.”


When it was decided that we were to sail to Italy, they handed over Paul and some other prisoners to a centurion named Julius, of the Imperial Regiment.  ,


When we reached Jerusalem, the brothers and sisters welcomed us warmly.


We sought out the disciples and stayed there for seven days. Through the Spirit they told Paul not to go to Jerusalem.


While Gallio was proconsul of Achaia, the Jews made a united attack against Paul and brought him to the tribunal.


Who is there who speaks and it happens, unless the Lord has ordained it?


and from there to Philippi,  a Roman colony and a leading city of the district of Macedonia. We stayed in that city for several days.


After sending to Macedonia two of those who assisted him, Timothy and Erastus,  he himself stayed in Asia for a while.


So the city was filled with confusion, and they rushed all together into the amphitheatre, dragging along Gaius  and Aristarchus,  Macedonians who were Paul’s travelling companions.


For I want very much to see you,  so that I may impart to you some spiritual gift to strengthen you,


But I will come to you soon,  if the Lord wills, and I will find out not the talk, but the power of those who are arrogant.


so that we may preach the gospel to the regions beyond you  without boasting about what has already been done in someone else’s area of ministry.
