After staying for some time, Paul said farewell to the brothers and sisters and sailed away to Syria, accompanied by Priscilla and Aquila. He shaved his head at Cenchreae because of a vow he had taken.

Take these men, purify yourself along with them, and pay for them to get their heads shaved. Then everyone will know that what they were told about you amounts to nothing, but that you yourself are also careful about observing the law.


‘The Nazirite is to shave his consecrated head at the entrance to the tent of meeting, take the hair from his head, and put it on the fire under the fellowship sacrifice.

where he found a Jew named Aquila,  a native of Pontus, who had recently come from Italy with his wife Priscilla because Claudius had ordered all the Jews to leave Rome. Paul came to them,


Afterwards, I went to the regions of Syria  and Cilicia.


They wrote: ‘From the apostles and the elders, your brothers, To the brothers and sisters among the Gentiles in Antioch, Syria, and Cilicia: Greetings.


‘Speak to the Israelites and tell them: When a man or woman makes a special vow, a Nazirite vow,  to consecrate himself to the Lord,


After we sighted Cyprus, passing to the south of it,  we sailed on to Syria and arrived at Tyre, since the ship was to unload its cargo there.


He began to speak boldly in the synagogue. After Priscilla and Aquila heard him, they took him aside  and explained the way of God to him more accurately.


He travelled through Syria  and Cilicia, strengthening the churches.


Then the news about him spread throughout Syria.  So they brought to him all those who were afflicted, those suffering from various diseases and intense pains, the demon-possessed, the epileptics, and the paralytics.  And he healed them.


After he said goodbye to them, he went away to the mountain  to pray.


In those days Peter stood up among the brothers and sisters   #– #the number of people who were together was about a hundred twenty #– #and said,


When he wanted to cross over to Achaia, the brothers and sisters wrote to the disciples to welcome him. After he arrived, he was a great help to those who by grace had believed.


Therefore do what we tell you: We have four men who have made a vow.
