As Paul was about to open his mouth, Gallio said to the Jews, ‘If it were a matter of wrongdoing or of a serious crime, it would be reasonable for me to put up with you Jews.

He is able to deal gently with those who are ignorant and are going astray, since he is also clothed with weakness.


For if a person comes and preaches another Jesus,  whom we did not preach, or you receive a different spirit,  which you had not received, or a different gospel,  which you had not accepted, you put up with it splendidly!


I wish you would put up with a little foolishness  from me. Yes, do put up with me!


For rulers are not a terror  to good conduct, but to bad. Do you want to be unafraid of the one in authority? Do what is good, and you will have its approval.


I have nothing definite to write to my lord about him. Therefore, I have brought him before all of you, and especially before you, King Agrippa, so that after this examination is over, I may have something to write.


If then I did anything wrong and am deserving of death, I am not trying to escape death; but if there is nothing to what these men accuse me of, no one can give me up to them. I appeal to Caesar! ’

And for about forty years he put up with them  in the wilderness;


He replied to them, ‘You unbelieving   generation, how long will I be with you? How long must I put up with you? Bring him to me.’


Then  he began to teach them, saying:


and said, ‘You are full of all kinds of deceit and trickery, you son of the devil  and enemy of all that is right. Won’t you ever stop perverting the straight paths  of the Lord?
